Garmin, the brand that specialized in GPS and speed-measuring devices, has made some stunning advancements this season.
Arriving to our Soho store this week, Garmin has introduced a line of HD cameras, the VIRB. For use with a bike handlebar or helmet – or unlike the GoPro, standalone as a handheld- in addition to taking pictures, the elite model also allows an overlay of GPS information.
Garmin has also released the Vector pedals, which read power output while cycling. For serious cyclists, this has been a long time coming, offering dynamic info that can enable competitive insights for their on-the-bike performance.
In our stores this summer, Garmin has also updated their already strong GPS computers, and we’re impressed. The Edge 510 offers a sophisticated bike computer and an even more improved GPS. The device also syncs with your smartphone via Bluetooth to enable live tracking, so you can share your ride data. Raising the bar even further, the Garmin Edge 810 allows the cyclist to wander and train, with turn-by-turn navigation, plus searchable directions.
