Donate to Sandy: Drop offs for food + supplies

Our staff is working on collecting supplies to provide to residents in need after Sandy.

Because the Rockaways were hit especially hard and are in need of more supplies and support, we are collecting the following items, to deliver by cargo bike on Tuesday.

Here are general needs:

  • Moist towelettes, cleaning/baby wipes (for bathing)
  • Warm clothing (winter-focused: hats, sweaters, hand warmers)
  • Work gloves
  • Batteries, flashlights, lighting solutions
  • Non-perishable foods that do not require cooking or heat
  • Cleaning products, sprays [update: this need is less than good winter clothing]

Special thanks to Trek Bikes for donating a cargo bike for our delivery teams. And to Baby Cakes for the baked goods they will be providing.

All deliveries will go out Tuesday. As the situations are fluid, delivery plans for the donations and specific location will be finalized Monday evening depending on expressed needs of impacted neighborhoods.

If you have questions, or if you have a cargo bike and would like to assist with the delivery efforts, please call our store or contact Aaron Stewart-Ahn, who has been coordinating the teams and donations. His email is aaron at otaku-house dot com.

Aaron has been in touch with churches and leaders in the neighborhood; we may make additional trips to the area depending on need.

Drop off donations:
